Hello loyal blog fans! My name is Rosana Escobar Brown, but please call me Rosie. I am a Fordham Law student hoping to visit the George Washington University School of Law in the fall to complete my third year. My husband coaches baseball for the GW Patriots and I am ecstatic to have returned to the DC area to join him.
My academic exposure has been largely in political science and national security, but my legal experience was in criminal prosecution for the Albany County District Attorney’s Office, Mirriam’s old stomping ground. I relish the opportunity to learn everything she offers to teach me and gain experience in the DC area. The more exposure I gain in criminal law, the more I feel it may be the place for me. This summer I am also working part-time for a national security attorney and FOIA litigator to become well-rounded in legal practice areas. In my spare time, I still practice in the profession of my first career, in the exciting world of licensed opticianry. Yes, I made the shift from eyeglasses, contact lenses, and management to that of a returning student and soon, an attorney.
I can’t wait to share my thoughts with all of you, but please excuse me if I stray from the typical criminal defense repertoire. My eyes are wide open and my naiveté with the legal practice still prevails, so prepare yourselves for the worst!
Welcome. I am the distinguished (and very good-looking) older gentleman who ran into you and Mirriam the other day in Georgetown. I look forward to your guest posts. Following Mirriam's lead, make sure you swear a lot.
