I am sometimes astounded by the amount of sheer genius out there in the criminal defense realm.  I come to my little office, put my little 4 cup coffee pot on to brew, and determine I am going to get down to business.  I am going to organize my files, send out letters, get the faxes out the door, etc. etc.  But, by the end of the morning I have logged onto this blog, checked out my blogroll and then checked out the blogrolls of my blogroll and the next thing you know it’s time to go to the Litigation Roundtable discussion on Padilla v. Kentucky.  Plans foiled again!

Today, I emailed with a former co-worker at K&S;, Kathy Manley.  She is a rocking criminal defense attorney, totally passionate about what she does.  Check her out here.  The lawyers at K&S; are solid, sturdy and true and I don’t think there is any big city law firm that can knock it out of the park like they can.  So, Kathy and I were emailing today and she told me she reads a lot of the same blogs that I do and mentioned Norm Pattis.

Where have I been???  How have I missed this jewel of a blog?  More importantly, how do I become like him?  Where do I develop the skill and the cajones to go out and do it every day?  These guys, K from K& S, and Mr. Pattis are for serious.  And yet, as you can see from Mr. Pattis’s blog (and I know personally about my mentor K) they are jovial, passionate, and a little bit nuts.  In this line of work, I think you have to be.

I can’t wait to grow up.
