This is my first post from our third floor walkup in baltimore. Husband finally killed whatever virus was on this poor beast of a machine, and it turns out we’ve got wifi connections all over the place. Perhaps verizon will be getting their little “DSL do it yourself KIT” back. I’m not really all that sure how this whole thing works, is it stealing (like cable) or is it a perfectly legitmate form of community co-operation. I don’t know. Well, it’ll do for now, as long as the old compaq presario holds out. We are in the market for a new notebook computer, but don’t have a clue as to which to buy. They all seem so reasonable initially, but then when you add things like keyboards and memory, all of a sudden you are looking in the 2k range. Two weeks ago I wouldn’t have thought anything of spending that kind of money. But, well now I’ve got no income, and all outgo. Anyway, enough of that.

You know, my second to last post was about how it didn’t feel like it would ever be my last day. Well, even though I drove 8 hours (the truck wouldn’t go faster than 70, and on the uphills it averaged around 45) and through three states, the offices of K&S; still manage to reach me. I got mail on Saturday and today from there, and they’ve called about a half dozen times. I’m certain on some occassion they will call to tell me that Judge E expected me in court and wanted to know why I wasn’t there. Oh, oh well.

So the truck was packed to the hilt. I cannot believe I had that much crap. And so much of it was crap. Is that the sum total of life? A bunch of U-Haul boxes filled with paperwork and odds and ends that only fit the description “misc.”?? It took an entire day to load the stupid thing, and then 3 hours and 7 people to unload. Our new digs are decent. I had psyched myself up for it to be much smaller than it actually is. And our neighborhood is pretty nifty. We are just a few blocks from the library and the Walters Art Gallery (now, if only I liked art). We’ve got some really great restaurants and a killer Leather bar. (That is Leather with a capital L) and my parents live 45 minutes away. I’m wondering whether that is in the pro or the con category right now, but let’s say its got a foot in each column.

Eh, what else? I’ve got some work to do but for now all I feel like doing is, well, nothing. Is that bad? I’ll write about more cool stuff if and when it happens. Right now I think we’ve finally decided to leave the house. No, not for any cool stuff, but to buy dogfood. I know, life is all glamorous non-stop rockstar living in the big city. Calm yourselves.
