It’s been raining in Baltimore, but instead of cooling off, its only created steam. It rains at night, mostly. Thunder, lightening, you know, the usual stuff. I think “Thank god! Tomorrow it won’t be one hundred degrees” and I wake up and its 100 degrees.
We were thinking of moving out to the county. To one of those apartment complexes with a pool and one carpet. Then we realized what that meant – driving to O’s games, driving to bars, driving. My car isn’t even registered anymore. That’s how little I drive.
My dog has a heart murmur. You’d think our last vet would have told us. But nooooo, we find out from Dr. T here in Federal Hill. He was really nice to little mutkin with the UTI. He didn’t make her get on the table and just did his exam right there on the ground.
Husband got a new job. It’s a telecom job just like the one he left upstate. Yeehaw! That means no more DC for me!! Yipppeee!! I can be a housewife/getting ready to start my own law practice person!
Oh, except for the fact that I, too, got a job. I mean really. Like a real job. A good job.
This is what happened: I gave myself until September 1 to get my office together and/or to find the job of my dreams. If there was no job of my dreams, then I would start my own practice promplty. And, I’ve been doing the work, getting the information, looking at space, etc. etc. In the meantime, I’ve been sending out resumes to only those firms that I am truly interested in working for, which is all of two. These two are spectacular criminal defense firms with a state-wide and even nation wide practice. So, I sent my resume and waited. One of them called me to set up an interview, I went in last night, then again this morning and at 12:30 they called and offered me the job. Yippppeeee!!
Oh wait, now I’m not gonna be a housewife anymore! boohoooo!
The office is awesome. The people are ridiculously wonderful. They work their asses off but are one the best criminal firms around. I met the associates, who look tired, but happy and the partners work as hard if not harder than the associates.
And, the best part is that its right downtown, right on the harbor. SWEEEETTTT!!
I guess it pays that I held out, that I kept looking, that I was picky, etc. etc. Maybe its just fate, maybe the gods decided we’d suffered long enough. Who knows.
But, we aren’t moving to the county. Instead, we are moving to a bigger apartment downstairs from where we live now!
