I have lots to write about. Seriously. Very soon (maybe this weekend?) I’m going to sit down and write like, an essay or something about being a lawyer, then not knowing if I want to be a lawyer, then trying to get a job, then trying to work my way through the maze of not having a job and getting temp gigs. I’ve learned a lot in the past week or so. First, I’ve learned that document review is stupid, dull, boring work but you can do it even if you stayed up until three am. the night before and drank an entire bottle of champagne by yourself. I’m not advocating that you do that, but if you do, you can still do glorified data processing.
I met a woman who is an attorney at the firm I’m stationed at. She is really nice and she lives in Baltimore and we are carpooling for the remainder of my time at the firm. All of the people who started on Monday got to move to cubicles except for me because I am so good and helpful they kept me in the training room with the new people. I think it’s because they don’t trust me on my own in a cubicle. But, I am nice and helpful. It won’t help me get a job, but its who I am, you know.
So seriously, I’ve got so much on my mind and I feel like I’ve got this idea that I need to spread to others. Maybe other people already know about contract work and how truly liberating it is in so many ways, but what a fiasco it can be if you don’t do it right. Maybe everyone knows but no one says. I’m going to say, I promise.
In the meantime, I promised my friend the cheeseman that I would advertise for his apartment in NYC. It’s for rent for 1600 a month (I think). It’s a one bedroom in a co-op building on the lower east side. I know he just had it repainted and its supposed to be really nice. If anyone is interested, please e-mail me and I will hook you up with the cheeseman.
I’m tired. Time to watch south park and go to sleep.
