Work is hard. I’m tired. It’s hard to wake up before 10 am and go somewhere where really, all you are is a glorified data entry person. Tab F5. That’s what I do all day. Nine and one half hours a day. And I have to fill out a time sheet. And I’m smarter than a lot of the people there. And I wonder why its so hard to find work.

There are about two or three dozen of these legal staffing agencies in the D.C. metro area. They can pay anywhere from 20-40 dollars an hour, depending on the client and how much they’ve negotiated for. Some of them require overtime – 70 hour workweeks. One guy was telling me that at one job he said he was leaving before 10 pm and they told him he couldn’t. Like he was a prisoner. Some firms have all sorts of cake and soda and wine on Fridays. Some places are like warehouses. I’ve heard that you can make between 12-15k in one month if you work 14 hour days 7 days a week. I think I’d be willing to do that for a month. It would make up for being unemployed for four.

I’m tired. Did I mention that? It’s hard getting up at 5:45 and getting in the car before seven to drive the hour to Rockville. It takes more than an hour to get home. I don’t understand it – you’d think there would be as many people coming back as going out. Who knows.

I feel guilty because I’ve been busy and haven’t been able to leave my usual witty comments on everyone else’s site. You know I still love you, right? But momma needs a new pair of shoes.
